Job Description
The Sociology and Criminology Department at Assumption University is excited to announce openings for two or more adjunct instructors for the Fall 2025 semester. We are looking for passionate educators to teach the following courses:
SOC 121: Principles of Sociology (T/TH 12:30-1:45pm)
SOC 223: The Family in Society (T/TH 2:00-3:15pm)
SOC 122: Social Problems (two sections: T/TH 8:30-9:45am and 10:00-11:15am)
Each course is capped at 30 students to ensure a quality learning experience. The fall semester runs from August 25 to December 12, including the final exam week.
Adjuncts are welcomed as important contributors to the department and our students, and are provided with office space, email, voicemail, and support and resources needed for quality teaching. Successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to teach additional courses in the Spring 2026 semester.
Requirements: Applicants must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
Applicants with a PhD in Sociology or a related field are preferred. ABD graduate students with prior teaching experience will also be considered, as will those with a terminal master's degree in Sociology or a related field and prior teaching experience.
