Job Responsibilities Midlands Technical College is a public, multi-campus, two-year public college serving the primary region of Richland, Lexington and Fairfield counties of South Carolina that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. - Teaches Introduction to Sociology (SOC 101) courses to MTC students, including dual enrollment students. Courses may be delivered in-person at a high school location, at our Beltline Campus, Airport campus, or one of the other MTC campuses, synchronously online (virtually through Zoom or Microsoft Teams), or asynchronously online (through D2L Bright Space).
- The course and, by extension, the instructor are under the purview of MTC and the supervision of the appropriate MTC Department Chair/Program Director. The instructor is expected to comply with all MTC policies and procedures. The course(s) should contain the required student learning outcomes, along with assessment and evaluation of those outcomes and instructional effectiveness.

This position is located on various campuses in the Social and Behavioral Sciences department. Minimum and Additional Requirements Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Sociology. Ability to teach during daytime hours.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree or higher in Sociology. High school teachers at participating high schools who desire to teach MTC courses must be vetted by the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at MTC. College and/or high school teaching experience and two years work experience. Ability to teach in-person or virtually via Zoom or Teams.
Additional Comments Compensation
Adjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College's established pay schedule. The standard adjunct pay rate is $2,802 per three-credit-hour course. Final compensation may vary depending on academic credentials and total course credit hours. Any variation is determined upon hire and outlined in the faculty employment agreement.
