The Clay Cooley Auto Group is seeking an effective and efficient Controller who will be responsible for managing and overseeing financial operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and the achievement of the organization's accounting objectives. The Controller is responsible for maintaining financial controls, preparing accurate financial statements, providing strategic month-end closing, and adapting to a high-volume atmosphere.

Role Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting

  • Observes the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly and informs departments and management of the development of trends.
  • Analyzes data, identify trends, and provides insight to assist in decision-making processes.
  • Coordinates and executes the final closing process with the payroll department and designated dealerships within the organization. To ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, this may require extended hours during the month-end periods.

Personnel Managing

  • Supervises a department within the Centralized Accounting Department; facilitates external audits, observes and makes day-to-day decisions, and addresses inquiries and requests to designated accounting team and dealership locations.
  • Ensures that all office personnel adhere to proper accounting procedures and maintain accurate records and analyses.
  • Provides continuous improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements to accounting procedures and workflows. Aims to enhance data integrity and information reporting with coaching to designated team members.

Employee Prerequisites:

  • College degree and/or 3-5 years related experience; equivalent or combinations of education and experience.
  • Advanced computer skill levels in internet, MS Outlook, CDK, Webdealer, and manufacturers' sites.
  • Aptitude to transition from one task to another clearly and concisely and the ability to work efficiently both individually and as part of a team.
