This position develops and oversees the daily operations along with the visitor experience of Nash Farm. Develops and participates in educational and specialized activities at Nash Farm. This includes the development of appropriate uses of all the structures, as well as animal and agricultural programs, along with maintenance and repair of all Nash Farm facilities and equipment. Supervises, directs, evaluates and schedules assigned full-time and part-time staff, addressing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining and completing employee performance appraisals, and approving time sheets. Develops and implements a Farm Hand Program that provides trained volunteers for all aspects of the farm as well as regularly scheduled volunteer and paid docents for year-round visitation programs. Develops and executes a rigorous maintenance and repair program for all Nash Farm structures and equipment. Develops educational and interpretive guidelines, which illustrate farm life on the Grapevine Prairie circa 1900. Develops and implements seasonal planting and harvesting programs for both the field and kitchen garden and limited animal husbandry programs. Manages retail sales at the Nash Farm Store in conjunction with CVB staff and develops the Pole Barn into a limited food and beverage concession area. Implements repair and restoration of horse-drawn equipment and develops interpretive programs of how equipment was used and what was produced by such equipment. Develops walking tours of the farm that take visitors through the production cycles of farm life as well as the domestic aspects of farm life on the Grape Vine Prairie. Develops and implements play areas and programs for children. Develops the barn into an educational and revenue generating activities area. Develops and interprets a new building addition to the farm equipment shed for the chuck wagon and other specialized wagons and equipment and establishes programming and volunteer teams for them. Schedules the third-grade school tour program, sponsored by the Grapevine Colleyville Independent School District, each October and April. This includes the recruitment each year of new volunteers, the training of volunteers, materials preparation, scheduling the schools as well as the volunteer docents, and all communications regarding this program. This also includes scheduling school districts other than GCISD as well. Manages 1859 farmstead curatorial needs, including researching, locating and acquiring period-appropriate artifacts, conserving, preserving, interpreting and preparing exhibits, exhibit changes, providing exhibit information to docents, other staff and volunteers. Develops Heritage Tourism programming opportunities in conjunction with the marketing department and the tourism sales department of the CVB, as well as the Historic Preservation division. Plans and manages special events and festivals and conducts fundraising events for Nash Farm. Develops and maintains relationships with sponsors and donors. Establishes a speaker’s bureau that makes presentations about Nash Farm programs at community group meetings and at school events as needed. Oversees budget for Nash Farm activities involving revenue and expenses. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
